About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pastoral Care Specialist to join our team at Good Shepherd Refuge Social Ministries. As a key member of our community, you will provide spiritual guidance, support, and care to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist at Worship Services: Participate in and assist with services of public worship and religious rites, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
  • Provide Spiritual Guidance: Offer one-on-one spiritual guidance, counseling, and support to individuals, helping them navigate life's challenges and find peace.
  • Administer Programs: Develop and implement programs providing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need, demonstrating compassion and empathy in all interactions.
  • Deliver Presentations: Create and deliver engaging presentations on topics related to spirituality, personal growth, and community development.
  • Counsel Individuals: Provide confidential counseling and support to individuals, helping them address daily-life issues and find solutions.
  • Conduct Religious Services: Lead and participate in religious services, creating a sense of community and connection among attendees.
  • Computer and Technology Skills: Utilize MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows, and MS Word to manage programs, track data, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Area of Specialization: Focus on college and university education, providing support and guidance to students and young adults.
  • Security and Safety: Ensure a safe and secure environment for all, adhering to policies and procedures related to security and safety.
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel and participate in transportation-related activities, with expenses covered by the employer.
  • Personal Suitability: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a client-focused approach, with a strong commitment to values and ethics.
  • Screening Questions: Answer screening questions related to eligibility, relocation, and previous experience in the field.
  • Experience: Possess 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of community development and social services.
