Platform Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Architect to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Software Engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Implement Scalable Solutions: Work closely with our software engineering teams to design and implement scalable and high-performance solutions for our platform as a service and internal management tools.
- Drive Automation: Drive automation of application deployment for production and pre-release environments.
- Define Monitoring Requirements: Define monitoring requirements and implement automated incident resolution solutions.
- Manage Continuous Integration and Deployment: Design, implement, and manage continuous integration, build management, and deployment scripts and systems.
- Provide Tier-3 Support: Provide tier-3 troubleshooting and break-fix support for production services.
- Identify Process Improvements: Identify areas for process and efficiency improvement within Platform Services Operations; recommend solutions and assist in overseeing implementation.
- Ensure Operational Excellence: Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency, and on-time delivery.
- Define and Document Standard Run Books: Define and document standard run books and operating procedures.
- Monitor System Capacity and Health: Monitor various systems capacity and health indicators and trends; provide analytics & forecasts for added or reduced capacity as required.
- Understand Risk and Compliance: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Champion a High-Performance Environment: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Strong Fundamentals in Distributed Systems Design and Operations
- 5+ Years of Software Development Experience
- Solid Experience Working with Large Private or Public Clouds
- A Self-Starter with the Ability to Work Effectively in Teams
- Solid Technical Experience Building and Supporting Applications
- Working Experience in Cloud Technologies
- Knowledge or Proven Experience with a Cloud Provider
- Working Knowledge of Confluent Cloud and Kafka
- Configure and Operate Kafka Monitoring and Alerting
- Install, Configure, and Operate Docker Containers
- Expertise in Unix Shell, Python, and Ansible Scripting
- Should Possess Working Knowledge of Kubernetes
- Should Possess Familiarity with a NoSQL Database
- Knowledge and Experience in Securing Data
- Knowledge and Experience of Disaster Recovery and Failover
- English Proficiency
- Excellent Team Player with Experience Working in an Agile Environment
- Good Organizational Skills, Excellent Problem-Solving, and Excellent Communication Skills
- Must be Flexible to Adapt to a Dynamic Environment
- Minimal Educational Requirements are a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering/Mathematics Discipline
