Role Summary:

The Assistant Site Superintendent plays a crucial role in assisting the Site Superintendent, ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently to meet project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and plan project specifications;
  2. Support the development of construction timelines and site management strategies;
  3. Oversee site setup, including temporary structures and utilities;
  4. Monitor project schedules and ensure adherence;
  5. Maintain site cleanliness and uphold the site management plan;
  6. Enforce safety protocols across all site activities;
  7. Facilitate coordination among various trades and suppliers;
  8. Keep detailed daily logs and conduct effective site meetings;
  9. Implement quality control measures through mock-ups at different construction phases;
  10. Ensure accuracy in trade progress documentation;
  11. Verify that trades maintain updated 'As Built' documentation;
  12. Coordinate with authorities to secure occupancy permits;
  13. Assist in the commissioning of equipment with trades and consultants;
  14. Implement inspection and deficiency rectification processes before final inspections;
  15. Support management in verifying 'As Built' documents and manuals;
  16. Conduct monthly budget reviews with management;
  17. Seek cost-effective solutions to enhance financial performance;
  18. Prepare project budget estimates;
  19. Manage construction projects from inception to completion according to specifications and budget;
  20. Develop and monitor construction schedules and milestones;
  21. Negotiate contracts and amendments with stakeholders;
  22. Establish and execute quality control programs;
  23. Represent the company in business services and contract negotiations;
  24. Prepare and present progress reports to clients;
  25. Oversee procurement of materials and land;
  26. Supervise subcontractors and junior staff;
  27. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations;
  28. Participate in required health and safety training;
  29. Ensure all employees receive appropriate health and safety training.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

A College Diploma in construction management or a related field is required.

Experience:

A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in residential construction is essential.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office;
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  3. Exceptional customer service abilities;
  4. Conflict resolution expertise;
  5. Meticulous attention to detail;
  6. Ability to build relationships with a diverse network of contacts;
  7. Strong organizational and time management skills;
  8. In-depth knowledge of Ontario Building Codes and Health & Safety Regulations.
