POSITION OVERVIEW

The Head of Arena Operations at Canucks Sports & Entertainment is tasked with formulating and ensuring the execution of strategic frameworks and supporting operational plans for Arena Management at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. This role will also serve as the principal authority on significant maintenance undertakings at Rogers Arena.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and provide operational guidance for the arena management of Rogers Arena
  • Lead the Arena & Facilities Operations team at Rogers Arena, ensuring effective operation, enhancement, and upkeep of the arena and associated equipment
  • Act as the management representative during events hosted at Rogers Arena
  • Collaborate with fellow leadership team members to develop and promote integrated initiatives that enhance the ultimate experience for hockey, lacrosse, and concerts
  • Oversee and manage maintenance initiatives that influence Rogers Arena, including building projects and exclusive events
  • Provide operational direction for various construction projects associated with CSE, coordinating with AG representatives and construction managers while prioritizing CSE's interests
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships, addressing all matters that arise with external collaborators supporting Arena Management
  • Work closely with CSE Ownership and Leadership Teams on initiatives that significantly impact the organization’s strategic goals
  • Act as a dedicated and responsible member of the Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic planning process

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, with preference for candidates holding formal qualifications in engineering (civil or mechanical) and/or construction
  • 8-10 years of experience in a similar role within a high-performance, customer-centric organization; prior experience in a professional sports and entertainment venue is advantageous (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Strong project management skills, including the development and oversight of project plans and budgets
  • An inspiring leader with substantial experience in guiding, motivating, and developing teams
  • Proven track record in implementing successful building initiatives focused on enhancing customer experience
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial construction and arena maintenance
  • Experience in formulating strategic directions for businesses, encompassing tactical details while maintaining a broad perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain strong partnerships and collaborative relationships across all business areas
  • A history of personal and team success throughout their career, with significant contributions to the positive development of the business through innovative approaches and a proactive mindset
  • Strong business acumen and professionalism
  • Excellent listening skills coupled with intellectual agility
  • High level of personal integrity, consistently prioritizing the organization’s interests
