The Dietary Aide plays a critical role in our community, impacting the lives of residents and fostering a warm and welcoming environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Follow proper food handling techniques to ensure a safe and healthy dining experience for residents.
- Date, label, and store food properly to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Keep work areas clean and uncluttered, and complete scheduled cleaning duties to maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Maintain the cleanliness of floors in the food preparation, dish room, and storage areas to prevent the spread of infection and maintain a clean environment.
- Support all aspects of optimal food service to meet the needs of residents, adhering to infection control, quality management, legislative requirements, and organizational standards.
- Assist in the preparation of meals, serving meals and beverages, following residents' diets and food preferences, and using proper portion sizes to ensure a satisfying dining experience.
- Take orders for the first and second menu choices from residents, following their preferences and dietary needs.
- Set and clear tables in the dining rooms and wash/sanitize tables, chairs, and serveries to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the dietary department.
**Requirements:**
- Maintain a current Safe Food Handler's Certificate to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Be familiar with the correct procedure for service and handling of food to prevent contamination and ensure a safe dining experience.
- Ability to operate institutional cooking equipment, such as dishwashers, conveyor toasters, and meat-slicers, to efficiently prepare and serve meals.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills to interact with residents, colleagues, and management.
- Pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and a Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants) to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
