About the Role

The Fire Safety Consultant will play a key role in ensuring Canadian Tire Corporation's fire prevention, preparedness, contingency planning, training, emergency management, and investigations meet or exceed industry standards.

This position will work closely with operations teams to maintain up-to-date evacuation plans, continuously evaluating and improving preparedness. The successful candidate will also serve as a subject matter expert for all projects impacting life safety, emergency management, fire prevention, detection, response, and investigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fire safety plans and procedures
  • Conduct fire code and building egress compliance reviews and audits
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on fire safety best practices
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Investigate and analyze fire alarm and trouble events, and perform root cause analysis
  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans
  • Manage and report on nonconformities and incidents

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in fire safety consulting or a related field
  • University degree or diploma in Fire Protection or a related field
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or similar designation
  • Knowledge of fire protection and life safety codes, standards, and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders
