About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Richmond, CA office. As a key member of our interdisciplinary Engineering team, you'll collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers to design, develop, and deliver our autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) system and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  1. Design, test, and qualify AUV/USV electronics, ensuring high-quality and reliability.
  2. Select components and materials based on analysis of specifications, reliability, and cost.
  3. Create and maintain detailed drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  4. Develop test plans, scripts, and fixtures for electronics and systems.
  5. Troubleshoot root cause electrical issues and implement system modifications.
  6. Collaborate with the Engineering team to resolve technical challenges.
  7. Provide technical support for the Ops team in the field as needed.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  2. 5+ years of industry experience with electro-mechanical systems.
  3. Ability to design, prototype, simulate, debug, and test circuits.
  4. Proficiency in PCB layout/design (Altium).
  5. Experience with basic communication protocols (USB, Serial, I2C, etc.).
  6. Programming skills (C/C++, Python).
  7. Ability to assess risk and make time-critical decisions/tradeoffs in imperfect scenarios.
  8. Ability to operate independently with limited instruction.
  9. A proven track record of shipping complex systems.
  10. A positive attitude, low ego, and a willingness to pioneer new solutions.
