We are excited to announce a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Property Claims Advisor. This role involves evaluating, negotiating, and resolving claims associated with personal lines, farm, and commercial insurance policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage directly with policyholders to guide them through the claims process, ensuring fair and equitable settlements.
- Assess all available information to verify that coverage is applicable to the reported claim.
- Clarify coverage details and the claims process to policyholders and claimants.
- Identify potential recovery opportunities, including subrogation and salvage.
- Gather and analyze documents and relevant information to aid in the evaluation and quantification of claims.
- Establish, assess, and maintain suitable reserves based on anticipated final payouts.
- Provide oversight and direction to independent adjusters and legal representatives.
- Prepare necessary documentation for significant losses and head office reporting.
- Coordinate the engagement of external resources as needed.
- Monitor and manage costs associated with external resources.
- Review and adjust claims in line with the company's customer service standards.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, within and outside the organization.
- Maintain up-to-date file diaries and abeyances.
- Detect potentially fraudulent claims and collaborate with the Special Investigations Unit.
Qualifications:
- Preferred CIP / FCIP designation.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in property claims is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of property policies and their wording.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey messages with tact and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and investigative abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Ability to make decisions that align with the company's claims handling philosophy.
