Job Summary

The Disposal Operations Management Trainee (DOMT) position is a developmental training program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in landfill operations management. As a DOMT, you will work under the supervision of experienced frontline managers to develop a strong understanding of all aspects of landfill operations, including safety, environmental protection, finance, and personnel management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete the Disposal OMT curriculum, consisting of Foundational, Intermediate, and Advanced level training
  • Attend and participate in mandatory group training sessions
  • Develop a working knowledge of landfill operations, including fill sequencing, cover operations, waste placement and compaction, and equipment deployment
  • Learn how to effectively manage site personnel and develop a strong understanding of landfill design and construction
  • Develop proficiency in leachate and landfill gas management, as well as community affairs and relations management
  • Participate in landfill operational reviews and provide constructive feedback to operations staff
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) and 5 years of relevant work experience in construction, engineering, geology, operations management, or heavy equipment. Preferred certifications include PE, RLS, and PG. You must also be proficient in Microsoft Office and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

This role requires frequent field work and assignments, including exposure to the elements and non-office type conditions. You will need to be able to ascend onto and descend from heavy equipment and ride for extended periods. The Disposal OMT program strongly prefers candidates who are willing to relocate throughout the US and Canada for the program or permanent operations role.
