Long-Haul Truck Driver Opportunity

IST Logistics Inc. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Long-Haul Truck Driver to join our team. This role is essential for transporting goods across various distances while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Operate as part of a two-person team or in a convoy.
    • Load and unload freight efficiently.
    • Drive and manage straight or articulated trucks for transporting materials.
    • Inspect vehicle conditions, including tires, lights, and brakes.
    • Conduct brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs as needed.
    • Perform thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
    • Carry out preventive maintenance on vehicles.
    • Communicate effectively with central dispatch.
    • Maintain accurate records of cargo, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
    • Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping.
  • Required Certifications:
    • AZ class license.
    • Air Brakes Endorsement.
    • Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
  • Documentation Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with accident reports, bills of lading, and driver logbooks.
    • Ability to complete inspection and maintenance reports.
    • Proficient in trip reporting.
  • Type of Transport:
    • Experience with dry bulk, flatbed, and tractor-trailer trucking.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Ability to operate GPS and other navigation systems.
    • Experience with trip recorders (on-board computers).
  • Travel Experience:
    • Long-haul, national, and provincial/territorial travel experience is preferred.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to handle heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks.
    • Comfortable with prolonged sitting.
  • Personal Equipment:
    • Steel-toed safety boots are required.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Flexibility, sound judgment, reliability, and a strong team player mentality are essential.
