Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to clients with concurrent psychiatric and/or substance abuse/misuse disorders, homelessness, and physical health needs.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, monitor client progress, and document observations and interventions.
  • Administer prescribed treatments and medications, and refer clients to physicians as needed.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families, promoting health and wellness through a health promotion approach.
  • Work collaboratively with community resources and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two (2) years' recent experience providing acute or community health nursing care/services to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities, and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism principles.
