Lead Procurement Specialist

About the Role at Atlas Graham Furgale
We are looking for a Senior Purchaser to take charge of our procurement operations.
Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Senior Purchaser will oversee the planning and purchasing processes, supporting product development and vendor negotiations. This position is crucial for fostering robust vendor relationships and, when assigned, negotiating effectively with suppliers regarding product pricing, delivery timelines, and quality standards. A strong capability to contribute to and implement procurement strategies, pricing models, and inventory management is essential.
Key Responsibilities:- Acquire finished products, raw materials, and components from approved suppliers on behalf of the company.
- Identify and assess new vendor opportunities as necessary.
- Manage the procurement of designated MRO items.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Guide suppliers and manage the release of materials to support ongoing production needs.
- Secure the necessary USMCA Certificates from suppliers annually to maintain duty rates.
- Collaborate with production, customer service, scheduling, and receiving teams to ensure smooth operations and prevent shortages or delays.
- Expedite the delivery of essential materials to support production.
- Analyze vendor costs, lead times, and delivery performance metrics.
- Process Spot Buy and Blanket Purchase orders in accordance with procurement procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication with vendors, the Director of Procurement, and senior management.
- Engage in negotiations regarding payment terms, rebates, and lead times with suppliers.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on procurement activities.
- Adhere strictly to all Logistics Purchasing Procedures.
- Assist in building relationships with freight carriers to secure competitive shipping rates.
- Coordinate with vendors and couriers to ensure timely receipt of goods.
- Implement and track KPIs and metrics to measure vendor performance, cost savings, and freight expenditures.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Over 6 years of experience in supply chain management with a proven record of achieving performance targets.
- Experience with global supply chain operations.
- Strong understanding of duties, brokerage, and logistics.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and provide exceptional customer service.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in various environments.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and driven to succeed.
- In-depth industry knowledge is advantageous.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.

- Proficient in various office software, including Microsoft Office.
