In Demand Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Leader to join our team as a Bilingual CFO/Controller for our Ottawa-based client.

Our client is a well-established, family-owned business that is a leading distributor of fuel, lubricants, and energy products in Ontario and Quebec. With a strong focus on reliability and customer service, the company supports a wide range of industries, including agriculture, construction, transportation, and residential heating.

Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Leader will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing the company's financial health and guiding business decisions to drive growth and profitability. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Financial Leader will manage all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement financial strategies to improve operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and implement financial strategies that support business growth and enhance profitability.
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting: Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, including tax compliance.
  • Cash Flow Management: Maintain and oversee cash flow management, including banking relationships and treasury functions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within financial operations.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • CPA designation with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in Canada.
  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within a family-owned or mid-sized business.
  • Bilingual (English and French) with strong communication skills in both languages.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide actionable insights to improve business performance.
  • Proven ability to streamline financial processes and drive operational efficiency.
