We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Clinician to join our Indigenous Health team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide culturally appropriate client-centered care to Indigenous individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide initial screening and assessment of referrals to determine appropriate treatment based on client needs and best practices.
- Assess client needs by gathering information and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to determine the best approach to care.
- Provide first-level intervention and support until formal treatment or further assessment can be conducted.
- Develop and implement recovery-oriented treatment options and plans through collaboration with clients and natural supports.
- Facilitate client utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs.
- Provide referrals to community treatment alternatives and services, including residential programs and vocational programs.
- Provide culturally appropriate education to clients and their families, exploring identified problems and suggesting positive behavior modifications.
- Maintain client records and provide information and guidance to other caregivers and health providers.
- Develop linkages with other facilities and community resources to improve access, integration, and coordination of mental health and substance use services.
We are looking for a candidate with a Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program, such as Counselling Psychology or Social Work. Two years' recent related experience working with clients and families with mental illness and substance use disorders is required. Knowledge of Indigenous health approaches, protocol, and cultural issues is essential.
