Role Responsibilities

As a vital member of the Wealth team, the Paraplanner will support Private Wealth Advisors (PWA) by facilitating the onboarding of new clients and maintaining ongoing client relationships. Responsibilities include preparing documentation for meetings, managing tax return preparations, and liaising with tax authorities regarding tax matters. This role also serves as a bridge between clients, PWAs, Compliance, Operations, and Custodians.

Key Duties

Financial Planning and Tax Assistance:

  • Draft components of financial plans
  • Organize meeting agendas
  • Prepare personal and trust (T1 and T3) tax returns
  • Analyze Notices of Assessment
  • Review quarterly tax installments
  • Assess RRSP/TFSA/RESP contribution limits and transactions
  • Address CRA requests for supporting documentation
  • Submit tax adjustments and ensure follow-up
  • Verify client tax information via CRA resources
  • Compile financial plans for PWAs
  • Participate in client meetings and summarize discussions

Investment Assistance:

  • Complete internal and custodial account documentation
  • Aid in the onboarding and offboarding of investment clients
  • Provide support for client transaction activities: transfers, cash requests, PAC/PAD, RSP to RIF rollovers, tax payments, etc.
  • Maintain and update client data, relevant notes, and communications within the CRM
  • Prepare and/or review financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc basis
  • Participate in company initiatives and project work as necessary
Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and process-driven, capable of managing tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and multitasking abilities are essential, along with a focus on client-centered service. Adaptability and a collaborative mindset are crucial, as this role involves close cooperation with our Private Wealth Advisory team to develop customized financial plans and respond to industry developments.

The ideal candidate is passionate about cultivating client relationships and delivering exceptional, personalized service. They can handle sensitive information, adapt to change, and maintain a positive attitude while demonstrating high integrity and a dedication to client service.

Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in finance or a related discipline
  • CIM, CFP, or CFA designation preferred
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or in progress is an asset
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • At least two years of experience during T1 Tax season
  • Proficiency in French (both written and spoken) is considered an asset
