Position Overview

The Vancouver Airport Authority is seeking a dedicated Senior Technical Analyst – Business Intelligence Developer to join our IT Department. This full-time role is integral to our Advanced Analytics team, focusing on enhancing and maintaining our business intelligence capabilities in data warehousing and dashboard creation. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical and analytical expertise, coupled with exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate comprehensive strategies for all systems within the designated portfolio, addressing enhancements, security, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery, while integrating business requirements and IT departmental needs.
  • Design, develop, and sustain visually engaging business intelligence dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Conduct workshops to gather reporting requirements from business stakeholders and effectively translate these into functional report applications.
  • Oversee vendor management for all hardware, software, and consulting services related to assigned systems and applications, including the preparation of technical documentation for support.
  • Enhance the performance of dashboards and reports through optimization of scripts, data models, and user interface design elements.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 10 years of post-degree experience in data warehousing and business intelligence report/dashboard development using Qlik Sense and PowerBI.
  • Proficient knowledge of virtual server platforms, storage solutions, cloud technologies, relational databases, and data analytics.
  • Strong experience in data preparation, integration (ETL), data modeling, SQL, and Python programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, vendor relations, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels, from end users to executives.
  • Expertise in the technologies relevant to assigned systems, along with advanced critical thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
