About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at ANDRITZ Hydro Canada. As a key member of our Mechanical Design Team Turbine, you will be responsible for the mechanical design of new and refurbished Francis, Kaplan, and propeller turbine units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare 3D models and 2D drawings from references, sketches, or instructions from engineers or senior designers;
  • Create drawing-associated material lists;
  • Review drawings and material lists to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications and internal design standards;
  • Ensure designs can be manufactured, transported, and operated efficiently;
  • Propose design improvements to reduce costs and enhance quality;
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities;
  • Enter data into the material resource planning system (SAP);
  • Perform drawings revisions;
  • Manage execution time and participate in schedule updates;
  • Ensure the quality and precision of work.
Requirements
  • College diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Strong knowledge of heavy mechanical equipment, welded structures, manufacturing methods, and machining, as well as drafting rules and practices;
  • Autonomous and team-oriented individual;
  • Fluency in French and English;
  • Knowledge of Unigraphics NX8, Teamcenter, and SAP an asset;
  • Knowledge of hydro turbine (turbine and generator) an asset.
