Project Overview:

Bechtel, in collaboration with its partners, has been designated as the Delivery Partner for the Ontario Line Project in Toronto. This initiative aims to establish a new metro line that enhances connectivity and capacity within the city’s public transport system. The project encompasses the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure and rail systems across 15 stations and over 15 kilometers of new track. The Ontario Line is set to open for passenger service in the future, with the Integrated Project Team working closely to ensure successful delivery.

Position Summary:

The Power Systems Project Manager will oversee the technical and managerial aspects related to the design and execution of traction and non-traction power systems for the Ontario Line project. This role is critical in ensuring that the contract specifications are fulfilled by the RSSOM contractor, while also producing comprehensive justifications and technical assurances to support safety cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance of all traction and non-traction power system activities with the Project Specific Output Specification and RSSOM contract.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Earthing and Bonding strategies.
  • Oversee the adherence to safety management processes during all phases of power system activities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with traction and non-traction power systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in safety and risk assessment sessions, providing insights as necessary.
  • Facilitate a requirements management process and prepare system safety assurance documentation.
  • Coordinate integration activities across various disciplines related to power systems.
  • Provide expert knowledge on traction and non-traction power systems as required.
  • Support the review of system assurance and safety cases in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Review contractor submissions related to power systems and provide constructive feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree (or equivalent) with 13-15 years of relevant experience, or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience in the design and construction of traction and non-traction power systems within large-scale rail projects.
  • Familiarity with various power distribution systems and their interfaces with rail systems.
  • Experience in managing the integration of power systems with civil engineering and other rail disciplines.

Essential Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of traction power systems utilized in metro and light rail applications.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and design calculations.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations applicable to rail systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to environmental safety and health standards.
