Position Overview

The University of Ottawa is seeking a dedicated Intermediate Cycle Education Specialist to contribute to the academic growth of students aged 12 to 15. This role requires a strong commitment to educational excellence and a deep understanding of the unique needs of middle school learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess a Master's degree in education.
  • Hold a specialist qualification relevant to the educational field.
  • Demonstrate recent full-time teaching experience within a school environment or possess administrative experience in an educational board.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience implementing the Ontario curriculum in the designated subject area.
  • Maintain current qualification confirmation in the field of education.
  • Exhibit a proven ability to adhere to the Standards of Practice of the profession and the Ontario Teachers' Code of Ethics.
Qualifications:
  • Conduct a thorough study of the specific characteristics and requirements of students aged 12 to 15.
  • Utilize effective pedagogical resources to enhance learning.
  • Adapt teaching strategies for secondary and high school levels, including corrective, regular, and advanced classes.
  • Address particular challenges such as general teaching methods, rotation systems, adaptation issues, peer influence, individualization, and support for students facing difficulties.

Additional Information: Equivalent education and experience may be considered as acceptable as the required educational background and/or demonstrated experience.
