Position Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled attorney to join the in-house litigation team at Travelers Canada, specifically within Van Arnhem & Associates. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and expertise in legal matters, managing cases with moderate to high complexity and exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation cases independently from initiation to resolution.
  • Effectively represent clients in trials, showcasing superior trial and hearing skills.
  • Exhibit outstanding legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Prepare essential legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks and exposures to clients and claim partners promptly.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external clients, focusing on customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Senior Counsel on complex and high-stakes cases.
  • Mentor junior lawyers and legal support staff, providing guidance and leadership.
  • Conduct training sessions and legal updates for colleagues and claim partners.
  • Participate in special projects and identify additional opportunities to support business objectives.
  • Maintain high standards of file organization and client service.
  • Travel as necessary to fulfill business requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3-10 years of experience in insurance defense or personal injury law.
  • Demonstrated history of delivering exceptional client service.
  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills.

Essential Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a commendable academic record.
  • Successful completion of bar and ethics examinations in the relevant provinces.
  • Active license to practice law.
