Your Role:
In this capacity, you will spearhead government relations initiatives, collaborating closely with the CEO to serve as a trusted advisor to our member organizations and government representatives across various levels. Your expertise in public policy and commercial real estate will be essential in promoting understanding of the sector's economic contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and nurture relationships with executive members and relevant stakeholders to identify and address key issues across different asset classes and governmental levels.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy that aligns with organizational goals, including outreach to members and stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze political and policy developments, communicating insights and recommendations to members through reports and presentations.
- Conduct thorough research on legislation and policy documents to assess their implications for the commercial real estate industry.
- Prepare detailed briefings on new regulations and their potential impacts on the sector.
- Advise the CEO on government relations strategies, providing regular updates and insights.
- Oversee the Manager of Government Relations, Policy & Research, and coordinate internship programs as applicable.
- Ensure compliance with lobbying regulations and maintain accurate registration records.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization in media engagements.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to ensure consistent messaging on policy positions.
Qualifications:
- A degree in political science, law, business, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role within an association.
- Strong leadership skills with a proactive and strategic mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of the legislative process and public policy at various government levels.
- Proven ability to influence policy decisions effectively.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with confidence in public speaking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with association management tools.
- Willingness to travel as required.
