Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Senior Operational Technology Engineer will spearhead the strategic execution of digital transformation projects within the organization's operational technology framework. This role requires seamless collaboration with the IT department through the Business Relationship Manager (BRM) and the development of a comprehensive Five-year strategic plan for People-Processes-Technologies, aligning with Novelis' growth and innovation objectives for the Plant of the Future (PoTF). The primary goal is to enhance operational workflows, boost efficiency, elevate safety standards, and secure Novelis' Operational Technology systems by integrating cutting-edge digital solutions. The position is vital for aligning the organization with industry advancements, regulatory standards, and emerging technologies to foster innovation and maintain competitiveness in a swiftly changing operational technology environment.

Responsibilities include:

Direct the Operational Technology (OT) components of selecting, implementing, and managing digital solutions, including IoT devices, industrial automation, and data analytics platforms. Mentor and coach experienced team members, promoting technical proficiency. Collaborate with local, regional, and global teams to gather project requirements and feedback, translating these into actionable tasks for project teams. Identify and propose solutions to operational challenges, leading project teams to ensure alignment across various regions or operational sectors. Coordinate project responsibilities, negotiate timelines and deliverables, and facilitate regular review meetings with stakeholders. Influence strategic decisions by preparing and presenting technical insights to senior management regarding automation infrastructure and process data management. Ensure strong alignment of initiatives within the broader manufacturing group, focusing on technology, personnel (organizational change), and processes. Work closely with operations, digital, and Manufacturing Excellence teams to develop data management strategies that promote data-driven decision-making. Safeguard operational technology systems and digital assets through robust cybersecurity protocols. Stay updated and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations pertinent to operational technology and data security. Actively participate in regional and global EHS initiatives to foster a culture of safety.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering Controls, Automation, or a related discipline (master's degree preferred). Demonstrated experience in leading operational technology transformation projects. At least 10 years of experience in operational technology (controls, technologies, and processes), personnel management, and Management of Change (MOC) expertise. Knowledge of data management strategies and utilizing data for informed decision-making. Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity measures and practices. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the capability to manage project teams and encourage collaboration. Proven ability to present technical information effectively to senior management.

Location Profile

Novelis' Global Corporate Headquarters is situated in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, employing approximately 250 individuals.
