About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter - Interior Finish Specialist to join our team at UNION GENERAL CONTRACTING INC. as a key member of our construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools, to ensure accurate and efficient construction.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to create high-quality interior finishes.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to provide a solid base for interior finishes.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a seamless and professional finish.
  • Instruct apprentices and provide guidance and support to ensure they develop the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the role.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
  • Operate hand tools and other equipment safely and efficiently to minimize risks and ensure high-quality results.
  • Travel to various locations to complete projects and provide services to clients.
  • Work in a physically demanding environment, requiring bending, crouching, kneeling, and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Use safety equipment and gear to protect yourself and others from harm.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Requirements
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Permanent employment with a regular schedule of 35 to 40 hours per week.
  • Fluency in English as the primary language of communication.
