Position Overview

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 to less than 7 months in a similar role is preferred.
Work Environment

The role involves working in a butcher shop and with wholesalers, where you will encounter:

  • Odours from various meats
  • Cold and refrigerated conditions
Key Responsibilities

As a butcher, your primary tasks will include:

  • Preparing meats for processing by cleaning and cutting
  • Trimming and preparing standard cuts of meat
  • Wrapping and packaging meats for sale
  • Weighing and pricing meat products
  • Preparing fish and shellfish for sale
  • Assisting customers with their meat selections
  • Supervising and training junior staff in meat cutting techniques
  • Creating special sausage products and meat displays
Physical Demands

This position requires:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Attention to detail and hand-eye coordination
