As a Pastry Chef at D Spot Dessert Cafe, you will play a vital role in our culinary team, creating a variety of baked goods and desserts that delight our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Education: Completion of secondary (high) school education is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a baking or pastry role is preferred.
- Product Preparation: Prepare dough for a variety of baked items including pies, breads, rolls, and sweet treats, as well as batters for muffins, cookies, and cakes, following established recipes or special customer requests.
- Baking: Bake mixed dough and batters to perfection.
- Staff Training: Train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and proper food handling practices.
- Special Orders: Prepare and manage special orders as needed.
- Supervision: Oversee baking personnel and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Decoration: Frost and decorate cakes and other baked goods to enhance their presentation.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet established quality standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate baking machinery and maintain a clean work environment.
- Inventory Management: Organize and maintain inventory of baking supplies.
- Sales Oversight: Manage the sales and merchandising of baked goods.
- Allergy Considerations: Prepare dishes that accommodate customers with food allergies or intolerances.
- Newcomer and Refugee Support: Participate in initiatives that assist the integration of newcomers and refugees into the community.
- Youth Engagement: Contribute to creating a welcoming environment for youth through awareness training.
- Indigenous Inclusion: Engage in cultural competency training to foster an inclusive workplace for Indigenous individuals.
- Visible Minority Support: Take part in mentorship programs aimed at supporting visible minorities within the workplace.
