Job Title: Boiler Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled Boiler Inspector to join our team at the Manitoba Government. As a Boiler Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements specified under various Acts and supporting codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exercise authority to ensure compliance with requirements specified under the Department of Labour Act, the Steam and Pressure Plants Act, the Power Engineers Act, and the Gas and Oil Burner Act.
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure safe installation and operation of boilers and pressure vessels in Manitoba and Canada.
  • Interpret and apply Acts, regulations, codes, and standards governing the safe installation and operation of boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Write inspection and/or investigation reports.
  • Exercise judgment and identify solutions to problems.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities with tight deadlines.
Requirements:
  • 2nd Class Power Engineer in the Province of Manitoba or 3rd Class Power Engineer working towards their 2nd Class with additional training and experience.
  • Experience in operation, installation, service, maintenance, and/or inspection of boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Knowledge of procedures for conducting inspections and/or investigation techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook) or equivalent software programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified as an "AI" or "IS" Commission with "B" or "R" endorsements by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBB).
  • Certified as a commercial and industrial gas fitter in the Province of Manitoba.
