About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapy Associate to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of our healthcare team, you will provide support to clients and families through the application of recreation intervention to support holistic functioning.

The successful candidate will provide interventions to groups or individuals in inpatient, outpatient, or community settings, related to the client's leisure needs and overall plan of care. You will practice in adherence to practice standards and scope of employment.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a post-secondary diploma in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited educational institution. You will have experience working with individuals with physical/cognitive disabilities and be able to work effectively within a team or other healthcare professionals.

You will be able to assist in the plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Recreation programs. You will possess effective listening and communication skills, as well as the ability to motivate patients/veterans. Adaptability and flexibility are essential, as you will be working with changing patient populations and/or worksites.

You will be able to work independently, without direct supervision, and understand medical terminology used in a clinical area. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.

Key Responsibilities
