About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer to join our team at BWX Technologies. As a key member of our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex instrumentation and control systems for our nuclear power plant clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Prepare detailed designs, specifications, and technical documents for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with cross-functional teams, including design, operations, and maintenance, to gather site-specific design information and ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Execute testing and commissioning of complex equipment and systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and present technical data, including design documentation, test procedures, and commissioning reports, to internal and external customers.
  • Project Management: Participate in design reviews, customer review meetings, and project planning to ensure timely and budget-friendly project execution.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Electrical/Instrumentation & Control/Automation or related discipline Engineering.
  • Experience: Typically requires 3 years' experience in design engineering in nuclear, aerospace, transportation, oil and gas, mining, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Skills: Industrial automation technologies, low-voltage power distribution and control circuits, control and power relays, cabling, junction boxes, and penetrations, motors and motor controls, valves, sensors, and feedback controls/signal conditioning.
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated ability to support leadership on engineering projects, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience with IBM DOORS.
  • Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
