Position Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated and innovative Membership and Network Engagement Coordinator to lead the growth of membership among Canadian international development organizations and individuals advocating for social justice worldwide. This role will involve the development and execution of programs aimed at expanding Cooperation Canada's audience and enriching our community engagement. The position will also provide essential capacity-building events to support initiatives funded by Global Affairs Canada.

This job description outlines the key responsibilities and ongoing tasks associated with this role. Specific duties and priorities may be assigned or adjusted by management as part of program and work planning.

Member Services Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate new membership applications to ensure adherence to Membership Criteria, Code of Ethics, and Member Terms of Reference;
  • Assist in membership application processes for the Membership and Awards Committee;
  • Proactively enhance membership and ensure member satisfaction;
  • Maintain current member contact databases;
  • Oversee annual membership renewals and surveys;
  • Engage with members, partners, and relevant regional and international stakeholders;
  • Provide guidance and collaborative support for member-led public engagement initiatives;
  • Coordinate capacity and skills-building opportunities for members as required for the relevant projects;
  • Ensure that Cooperation Canada's development principles, values, and crosscutting themes are integrated into membership and network activities;
  • Stay informed about overseas funding opportunities for Canadian-based groups and share relevant information with members and stakeholders;
  • Create networking opportunities, explore collaborative ventures, and attend regional meetings and events when feasible;
  • Lead the organization of annual International Development Week Global Citizen Awards and other member-focused events;
  • Facilitate issues-based networking events such as discussion series and annual conferences.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the collection of appropriate quantitative and qualitative evaluation data on all membership programs and events;
  • Operate within budget and deliverable guidelines as outlined by funding agreements and as directed by the Executive Director;
  • Maintain accurate databases and records for reporting on program deliverables, and compile data for Results-Based Management reporting as necessary;
  • Participate in staff meetings and program planning as required;
  • Complete regular work planning and reports as needed;
  • Coordinate reporting content for semi-annual and annual reports;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Completion of a relevant undergraduate degree plus 2-3 years of professional program design experience;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite and cloud-based applications;
  • Experience with member-based organizations is considered an asset;
  • Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations;
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with program planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation;
  • Knowledge of international development issues or practical experience;
  • Experience working within diverse cultural environments is considered an asset;
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively in relatively unstructured situations;
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated interest in international cooperation, non-profit, humanitarian, and/or education sectors;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a team member.
