Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Student. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the Manufacturing Engineering department with various responsibilities, including optimizing the safety and efficiency of product production and testing, as well as contributing to the initiatives related to our new facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assess manufacturing techniques and processes under the mentorship of Manufacturing Engineers, focusing on:
    1. Design
    2. Fabrication
    3. Assembly
    4. Tooling
    5. Materials
  2. Enhance manufacturing efficiency by analyzing:
    1. Workflow
    2. Space utilization
    3. Equipment arrangement
  3. Support product and process quality by assisting in:
    1. Developing testing methods and equipment
    2. Evaluating finished product and process capabilities
    3. Establishing quality standards
    4. Validating manufacturing processes
  4. Engage in product development discussions and aid in implementing recommended design modifications to improve manufacturing and assembly.
  5. Contribute to standardization efforts, including:
    1. Implementing 5S practices in workspaces
    2. Streamlining operations through documentation and lean methodologies
    3. Creating quick-win solutions to transition from current to future states
Qualifications:

Ideal candidates should possess foundational skills in Manufacturing Engineering typical of a first, second, or third-year college student, or relevant field experience, alongside:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Understanding of:
    1. MRP systems (e.g., LN, SAP, etc.)
    2. Lean principles (Value-Added/Non-Value-Added, cycle times, lead times, Value Stream Mapping)
    3. Design for Manufacture (DFM)
    4. Design for Assembly (DFA)
    5. Documentation for manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with PowerBI, Excel VBA, and SQL for data visualization and analytics
  • Knowledge of production and testing layout design, including ergonomics and safety considerations
  • A proactive attitude, enthusiasm, and a positive mindset
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Capability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Additional Information:

Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessments for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
