Job Title: Early Childhood Education Program Facilitator

Job Summary:

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Childhood Education Program Facilitator to join our team. As a key member of our EarlyON Child and Family Centres, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the centre, working collaboratively with school staff to provide a high-quality, play-based program that meets the needs of the community, and ensuring consistent program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the EarlyON Child and Family Centre
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to provide a high-quality, play-based program that meets the needs of the community
  • Ensure consistent program delivery
  • Provide a family literacy program that focuses on developing literacy and numeracy skills
  • Model parent-child interactions
  • Facilitate parenting education that promotes a positive home/school partnership
  • Collect relevant data
  • Monitor program registration and attendance and maintain up-to-date and accurate records
  • Provide a nutritious snack daily to the children attending the program
  • Provide a welcoming, safe, nurturing, inclusive, positive, and respectful environment that recognizes individual differences

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A thorough understanding of early childhood development
  • Knowledge of elementary school operations
  • Two years' experience working in an environment with children from birth to age 6 and their families
  • Parent and/or caregiver, trained and certified in providing First Aid
  • Knowledge of adult education principles
  • Experience working in high-need communities
  • The ability to speak a second language is an asset
  • Knowledge of school board policies and procedures related to early years programs and to the operation of the school system
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision within a multicultural environment
  • The ability to respect and work with a diverse range of children and families of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to individual needs of children in a multi-ethnic and multilingual environment
  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity
  • The ability to model healthy adult-child relationships and positive discipline
  • Adapts well to changing demands
  • As an effective team player, this position works collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and teaching staff to achieve goals, group facilitation, consensus building, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer technology

Education and Certification:

  • Two-year community college program in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience working within a parent-child and/or child care is required
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR is required

Salary and Benefits:

$% vacation pay per hour
