Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Virtual Psychiatry Unit team in Abbotsford, B.C. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients through a combination of telephone, virtual video/audio conference, and remote technology.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient/resident/family's actual and potential strengths and limitations, including physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Provide a supportive environment for patient/resident/family, promoting patient/resident/family involvement in health care decisions, and respecting personal choices.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing changes to the individualized plan of care, including attending and providing input into multidisciplinary care planning meetings and family conferences.
  • Provide nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology, and FHA standards, and evaluates outcomes.
  • Record observations and reports problems and/or changes to designated staff, and when required, monitor patients remotely via approved technology.
  • Perform admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients/residents according to agency operating policies and procedures.
  • Document and update all relevant care and procedure information to ensure patient/resident safety and comfort, utilizing available software/hardware applications for data collection and analysis.
  • Operate and maintain effective functioning equipment related to patient/resident care, such as bathtubs, scales, and mechanical lifts.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients/residents and staff.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff, students, and other members of the Health Care Team.
  • Services may be provided on an outreach basis when required, to assess and/or engage with patients within their own environment and community.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and program evaluation activities, education sessions, team conferences, meetings, and committees.
Qualifications
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Graduate of a recognized practical nursing program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • One (1) year related clinical experience, and completion of or eligibility to complete Mental Health & Substance Use Competency Education.
  • Current Class 5 Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business-related purposes, as required.
