Job Description

Job Title: Head of Policy and Advocacy

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Policy and Advocacy to join our team at the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our policy and advocacy strategy, working closely with our leadership team and external stakeholders to drive positive change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive advocacy strategies to advance our policy agenda, including partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead the development of policy briefs, position papers, and other advocacy materials to inform our advocacy efforts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and industry influencers.
  • Provide strategic guidance to our leadership team on policy and advocacy matters, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support our policy and advocacy work.
  • Lead a team of policy and advocacy professionals, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure their success.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant policy and regulatory developments, providing timely analysis and recommendations to our leadership team.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, International Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in policy and advocacy, with a strong track record of success in developing and implementing policy strategies.
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and industry influencers.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and legislative processes, with a focus on gender equality and feminist frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
