Position Overview:

CSA Group is seeking a Project Coordinator with expertise in Electrical Utility Standards, located in Toronto, Ontario. In this pivotal role, you will lead the creation of innovative standards through technical discussions and consensus-building among key stakeholders. Your duties will involve collaborating with industry experts, manufacturers, academic institutions, researchers, scientists, and government entities to advance our mission.

The Electrical and Telecommunications Utility standards unit at CSA oversees a diverse array of standards and guidelines, including the Canadian Electrical Code Part III, Power Engineering, and Electro Magnetic Compatibility, which are essential for developing secure, resilient, and reliable electrical and communication infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Standard Development: Assist in the formulation of the Canadian Electrical Code Part III and other related standards in partnership with CSA Group volunteer committee members.
  • Innovation: Identify and manage new standardization initiatives related to Grid Modernization, focusing on enhancing grid safety, performance, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee project processes, timelines, resources, costs, quality, and risk management.
  • Committee Engagement: Manage daily committee operations, ensuring that project milestones and financial targets are achieved.
  • Collaboration: Organize both in-person and virtual committee meetings; coordinate with internal and external partners to develop proposals, contracts, and financial evaluations.
  • Networking: Participate in internal task groups focused on business or process improvements, research, and more.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to CSA Group's processes and procedures as mandated by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree or technologist certification in an engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years in relevant sectors.
  • Technical Expertise: Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code Parts I, II, and III is beneficial, along with experience in standards development, governmental policies, or regulatory environments.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication abilities, including presentation and technical document preparation.
  • Leadership Qualities: Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Project Management Skills: Exceptional organizational and planning capabilities with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in word processing, presentation software, project management tools, and spreadsheets.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in French will be considered an asset.
  • Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required.
