Position Overview

Role Summary:

The selected candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of utility projects, focusing on high voltage distribution systems, including both overhead and underground lines, as well as substations for various utility and commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive Electrical and Civil designs for overhead and underground utility systems, adhering to relevant standards.
  • Evaluate engineering designs and technical schematics.
  • Generate both preliminary and detailed cost estimates, encompassing labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct voltage drop assessments, cable pulling calculations, and transformer loading evaluations as necessary.
  • Inspect construction sites to ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Analyze unit pricing to optimize project profitability.
  • Collaborate with external parties to facilitate joint use attachments and make-ready work.
  • Work with legal teams to secure easements and access agreements.
  • Verify existing site and electrical conditions through field assessments.
  • Prepare cost estimates, material lists, and work orders.
  • Create and refine cost estimation templates, maintaining an up-to-date cost database.
  • Coordinate efforts with stakeholders, including customers, utilities, property managers, and internal teams.
  • Address escalated customer concerns to ensure resolution.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Execute all tasks in a safe manner, following Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
  • Adhere to the company's Quality System operating procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Technician (or actively pursuing CET certification).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Utility Design.
  • Experience with distribution design for overhead and underground systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation; knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret electrical documents and technical reports effectively.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in complex and time-sensitive environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
