Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time permanent Senior Business Systems Analyst who will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid environment. This role is pivotal in leading and managing projects aimed at enhancing systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing business workflows through discussions with staff, document analysis, and task assessments to create comprehensive user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Deliver high-quality outputs punctually, including business requirements, project timelines, testing strategies, functional designs, and training materials.
  • Engage in Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing to confirm that features and functionalities are operational.
  • Facilitate and/or lead sessions to gather facts and make decisions regarding business scope, functional requirements, and priorities, while identifying gaps in current solutions.
  • Assist in organizing workshops and reviewing solution designs developed by functional and technical analysts, ensuring alignment with business needs and requirements.
  • Aid in the creation and upkeep of user training documentation.
  • Contribute to the deployment of integrated solutions that enhance business functionality and user satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and document project-related requirements with subject matter experts and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize data utilization and produce accurate reports.
  • Support Project Managers in tracking and communicating project progress and status against established plans and milestones.
  • Maintain effective communication across all team areas (management, design/UX, development, and quality assurance) to synchronize efforts.
  • Actively participate in project review meetings, providing status updates to business sponsors and Program Directors.
  • Engage in project implementation planning, providing estimates, identifying risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with technical staff to offer a business perspective during the analysis and design of specifications for applications.
  • Undertake additional related projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Information Systems) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience working with diverse project teams, including Enterprise Architecture, Application Architecture, Security, Privacy, User Experience, Developers, Quality Assurance, and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project and TestRail is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience with Jira is essential.
  • Strong background in Agile project management methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of business needs, with the ability to build and maintain customer trust and confidence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a capacity to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with both users and IT.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and confidentiality.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without restrictions.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architect by Sparx or similar modeling tools is a plus.
