Job Title: 1st Cook
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 1st Cook to join our culinary team at Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited. As a 1st Cook, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen team and ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the kitchen team and ensure efficient food preparation and presentation
- Develop and implement menu items and recipes
- Manage kitchen inventory and supplies
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in a cook position or extensive culinary experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent education
- Red Seal or equivalent certification is an asset
- Foodsafe Certificate is an asset
- Solid understanding of meat, starch, sauces, soups, and food safety preparation
- Ability to lift items weighted similar to a crate of potatoes and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work flexible hours and special events
