Position Overview

Job Title: Support Services Technician at BCIT

The British Columbia Institute of Technology is looking for adaptable individuals to join our Auxiliary Trades Support Services team for temporary assignments. The role encompasses a variety of tasks including maintenance, labor, mechanical duties, and responsibilities such as tool room management and first aid assistance.

Opportunity: This position offers the flexibility of part-time or full-time hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support across multiple campuses for diverse timeframes.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to thrive in temporary positions.
  • Filling in for absent staff and aiding in managing heavy workloads.
  • Continuous employment is not guaranteed due to varying demand.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 and six months of post-secondary education or training (e.g., trades).
  • Two years of general work experience and one year in trade-related environments such as construction.
  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and familiarity with various tools.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Possession of a valid BC driver's license.
  • Preferred qualifications: Trades Qualification, Forklift, and First Aid Certifications.
