About the Role:

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Guard to join our team. As a Security Guard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol campus grounds and buildings to prevent and detect security hazards
  • Interact with and provide support to individuals experiencing mental health crises
  • Liaise with community and law enforcement partners to resolve recurring issues
  • Build strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Enforce criminal and provincial statutes, as well as city bylaws and University regulations
  • Perform preliminary and follow-up investigations, draft notes, and complete reports
  • Assist in training and evaluating new employees

Requirements:

  • Ontario Security Guard License
  • First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen administration certification
  • Valid Ontario driver's license with Abstract and Police check clearance
  • Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security Guard License and Private Investigator License
  • Knowledge of the Use of Force Continuum and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Knowledge of security practices, terminology, and relevant regulations
