VCA Canada is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Technician Assistant to become part of our specialized Surgery team. Our facility operates as a 24-hour emergency and referral specialty hospital, dedicated to delivering top-tier emergency and referral veterinary care.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and possess a proactive attitude. The ideal candidate will demonstrate energy, self-motivation, and excellent organizational abilities. Given the fast-paced nature of our environment, the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is crucial. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in our collaborative team setting. Previous veterinary experience is advantageous.
The primary responsibilities of the Veterinary Technician Assistant in the Surgery department include supporting the Animal Health Technologists (AHTs) and Veterinarians with daily operations and patient care. Key duties involve:
- Utilizing appropriate restraint techniques to assist AHTs and veterinarians during patient assessments and treatments.
- Aiding veterinarians and AHTs in sample collection and radiographic procedures.
- Preparing for surgical procedures and other medical interventions.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization within treatment areas of the hospital.
- Performing administrative tasks such as client follow-ups, filing, and faxing.
- Cleaning surgical areas and sterilizing instruments.
Work Schedule: This position entails a 40-hour work week, structured over four days.
