Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Finance Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive writing and editing services, identifying issues, consulting, and conducting research and analysis to support sector programs and their impact on Ministry operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Coordinate Communications Strategies: Develop key messages relating to budget, school finance, taxation, financial reporting, stakeholders, and other sector issues; write information relating to budget development procedures for reference by Ministry representatives; and coordinate the development of communications strategies and materials in consultation with senior sector representatives.
  • Provide Research and Analysis Services: Conduct research and develop summaries and briefings relating to issues, proposed changes to policies and guidelines, and other sector initiatives and projects. Collaborate with senior sector representatives to develop responses and strategies to address issues in a manner consistent with Ministry business plan, legislation, and relevant guidelines.
  • Identify and Address Issues: Identify issues with potential Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy concerns or implications, alerting supervisor and other senior sector representatives and liaising with Legislative Services to develop responses.
  • Support Operational Improvement: Develop recommendations to support continual improvement of operations, including new and revised processes, tools, and best practices for provision of information and communications services.
