Position Overview

In the role of Electrical Technician specializing in protection and control (P&C), you will engage in the creation of advanced schematics, develop protection strategies, and contribute to significant electrical energy initiatives. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, you will enhance your expertise by working alongside seasoned professionals on projects related to substations, hydroelectric facilities, and renewable energy across Canada. Opportunities are available in various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Control and Protection systems utilizing 2D software (AutoCAD)
  • Generate project deliverables, including detailed drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, and equipment specifications
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to execute technical tasks
  • Prepare plans, drawings, and calculations based on provided specifications
  • Contribute to the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including one-line diagrams, logic diagrams, AC three-wire diagrams, DC protection and control diagrams, wiring schematics, device connection drawings, assembly drawings, material lists, and specifications for manufacturing and installation of Control and Protection panels.
  • Assist in the design of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, load calculations, distribution diagrams, and connection schematics for chargers, batteries, and inverters.
  • Participate in site assessments for substations and power generation facilities
  • Coordinate with various engineering disciplines such as switchgear, civil, mechanical, and building to develop optimized designs for substations and power plants.
  • Be prepared to perform occasional site work when opportunities arise (start-up or monitoring)

Qualifications

  • College Diploma (DEC) in electrical engineering technologies
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Fluency in both spoken and written French
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and a collaborative team player
  • Familiarity with protection and control principles and philosophies is advantageous
  • Knowledge of digital substation design (IEC standards is a plus)
  • Experience in electrical systems design is beneficial
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software is a plus
