Position Overview

In the role of Electrical Technician specializing in protection and control (P&C), you will have the opportunity to engage in the creation of advanced schematics, develop protection strategies, and play a key role in extensive electrical energy initiatives. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, you will enhance your expertise by working alongside seasoned professionals on projects related to substations, hydroelectric facilities, and renewable energy across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Control and Protection systems utilizing 2D software (AutoCAD)
  • Prepare project documentation, including detailed drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, and equipment specifications
  • Work in tandem with engineers and technicians to execute technical assignments
  • Generate plans, drawings, and calculations based on provided specifications
  • Contribute to the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including one-line diagrams, logic diagrams, AC three-wire diagrams, DC protection and control diagrams, wiring schematics, device connection diagrams, assembly drawings, material lists, and specifications for the manufacturing and installation of Control and Protection panels.
  • Assist in the design of AC and DC power systems, encompassing single-line diagrams, AC and DC load calculations, distribution diagrams, and connection schematics for chargers, batteries, inverters, etc.
  • Participate in site assessments (substations and power plants)
  • Coordinate with various engineering disciplines: switchgear, civil, mechanical, and building to develop optimized substation and power plant system design solutions.
  • Be prepared to conduct occasional site work when opportunities arise (start-up or monitoring)

Qualifications

  • College Diploma (DEC) in electrical engineering technologies
  • Basic proficiency in the Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Fluency in both spoken and written French
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and a collaborative team member
  • Familiarity with protection and control principles and philosophies is advantageous
  • Knowledge of digital substation design (IEC standards is a plus)
  • Experience in electrical systems design is beneficial
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software is an asset
