Position Overview:

The Royal Mental Health Centre is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mental Health Social Worker to provide comprehensive social work services to individuals facing severe and persistent mental health challenges.

Duties:

  • Deliver professional social work interventions, including psychotherapy, individual, family, and group therapy, as well as psychosocial assessments and crisis management.
  • Design and execute innovative treatment and recovery plans tailored to client needs, adhering to best practices and the standards set by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
  • Conduct controlled acts of psychotherapy in alignment with hospital standards and OCSWSSW guidelines.
  • Foster a client- and family-centered approach to care.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and caregivers to implement clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies alongside an interdisciplinary team.
  • Advocate for clients and their families to secure appropriate services and resources.
  • Engage in collaboration and consultation with community service providers and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Prepare timely and thorough written assessments, treatment plans, and discharge reports.
  • Participate in the education and supervision of Social Work students.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data collection in compliance with hospital and legislative standards.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of educational programs and psycho-education for clients, families, and staff.
  • Engage in Social Work meetings, peer consultations, clinical discussions, and research initiatives.
  • Fulfill all registration requirements with OCSWSSW.
  • Stay informed about professional standards through literature review, educational events, and networking.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety practices.
  • Promote a work environment that aligns with the Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment, and Discrimination Free policy.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a mental health setting, with experience in forensic work considered an asset.
  • Proficient in the controlled act of psychotherapy, specifically Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, with appropriate training and supervision.
  • Strong proficiency in using electronic health record systems for clinical documentation.
  • Active member in good standing with OCSWSSW.
  • Client- and family-centered approach with a solid understanding of recovery-based treatment.
  • Experience in individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and community liaison work is preferred.
  • Knowledge of concurrent disorders and community resources, including Mental Health Court and applicable legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social work theories and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong advocacy, conflict resolution, organizational skills, and work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • English proficiency at level A- is required; bilingualism in French is an asset.

Salary Range: $46.33 to $57.26 per hour
