OMERS is in search of a Technical Analyst to enhance our Valuations & Analytics division in Toronto, Canada. This team is accountable for real estate assessments, portfolio and property performance, and risk evaluation across all markets where OMERS invests. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical abilities coupled with a keen interest in real estate finance, which is essential for the Valuations & Analytics team. This role will provide exposure to the valuation and asset management analytics of investment properties within OMERS' extensive global portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing, constructing, and sustaining reports, tools, and templates essential for creating and maintaining valuation models using VBA, SQL, and related technologies; Assisting in the creation and upkeep of the team's database, which monitors historical and projected property outcomes and market data; Collaborating with OMERS' IT department and third-party service providers in sourcing, developing, and maintaining both internally and externally managed software and systems; Leading regular evaluations and implementations of annual system upgrades and process enhancements; Conducting market and economic research to compile and analyze macro-market trends; Participating in the development and maintenance of valuation models primarily utilizing Argus Enterprise to reflect portfolio changes and market dynamics; Coordinating with accountants, asset managers, leasing, and property management teams for data collection necessary for periodic valuation updates; Drafting annual written valuation reports.To excel in this position, you should possess:
A relevant undergraduate or advanced degree with 1-4 years of professional experience; Completion of computer programming courses at a post-secondary level, with a solid understanding of programming principles; Proficiency in SQL, VBA (or similar), and Microsoft Excel (financial modeling) is essential; Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence software is a valuable asset; A demonstrated interest in, or prior experience with, real estate or investment finance is advantageous; Knowledge and experience with ARGUS Enterprise is a plus; A self-driven individual with a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail; Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and project management skills; The ability to thrive under pressure with multiple competing deadlines; A flexible approach to a variety of tasks is necessary; A valid passport for international travel as required.About OMERS:
