OMERS is on the lookout for a Technical Analyst to become a vital part of our Valuations & Analytics division in Toronto, Canada. This team is accountable for conducting real estate valuations, analyzing portfolio and property performance, and assessing risk across all markets where OMERS invests. The ideal candidate will merge robust technical capabilities with a keen interest in real estate finance, playing a crucial role within the Valuations & Analytics team. This position will offer exposure to the valuation and asset management analytics of investment properties across OMERS' global portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing, constructing, and sustaining reports, tools, and templates essential for creating and maintaining valuation models using VBA, SQL, and related technologies; Assisting in the development and upkeep of the team's database, which tracks historical and projected property performance and market data; Collaborating with OMERS' Information Technology team and third-party service providers in sourcing, developing, and maintaining both internally and externally managed software and systems; Leading routine testing and implementation of annual system enhancements and process optimizations; Conducting market and economic research, compiling and interpreting macro-market trends; Participating in the creation and maintenance of valuation models primarily utilizing Argus Enterprise to reflect portfolio changes and market dynamics; Coordinating with accountants, asset managers, leasing, and property management teams for data collection necessary for periodic valuation updates; Preparing comprehensive annual valuation reports.To excel in this position, you should possess:
A relevant undergraduate or advanced degree along with 1-4 years of professional experience; Completion of computer programming courses at a post-secondary level and a solid understanding of programming principles; Proficiency in SQL, VBA (or equivalents), and Microsoft Excel (financial modeling) is essential; Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence software is considered advantageous; A demonstrated interest in, or prior experience within, real estate or investment finance is a plus; Knowledge and experience with ARGUS Enterprise is beneficial; A self-driven individual with a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail; Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and project management skills; Ability to thrive under pressure while managing multiple competing deadlines; A flexible approach to a variety of work tasks is essential; A valid passport for international travel as required.About OMERS:
