OMERS is in search of a Technical Analyst to enhance our Valuations & Analytics team in Toronto, Canada. This team is dedicated to real estate valuations, portfolio performance, and risk assessment across all markets in which OMERS invests. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical abilities and a keen interest in learning about real estate finance as a crucial aspect of the Valuations & Analytics team. This role will provide exposure to the valuation and asset management analytics of investment properties within OMERS' global portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, constructing, and maintaining reports, tools, and templates essential for creating and sustaining valuation models using VBA, SQL, and related technologies;
  • Assisting in the creation and upkeep of the team's database, which monitors historical and projected property performance and market data;
  • Collaborating with OMERS' IT department and third-party service providers for the sourcing, development, and maintenance of both internally and externally managed software and systems;
  • Leading regular evaluations and implementations of annual system upgrades and process enhancements;
  • Conducting market and economic research, compiling and interpreting macro-market trends;
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of valuation models primarily utilizing Argus Enterprise to adapt to portfolio changes and market dynamics;
  • Coordinating with accountants, asset managers, leasing, and property management teams for data collection for periodic valuation updates;
  • Preparing comprehensive annual valuation reports.

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • A relevant undergraduate or advanced degree with 1-4 years of professional experience;
  • Completion of computer programming courses at a post-secondary level and a solid understanding of programming principles;
  • Proficiency in SQL, VBA (or similar), and Microsoft Excel (financial modeling) is essential;
  • Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence software is advantageous;
  • A demonstrated interest in, or prior experience in, real estate or investment finance is beneficial;
  • Knowledge and experience with ARGUS Enterprise is a plus;
  • A self-driven individual with a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and project management skills;
  • The ability to thrive under pressure with multiple competing deadlines;
  • A flexible approach to a variety of work tasks is necessary;
  • A valid passport for international travel as required.
