Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team at Smart Telecom and Automation Solutions. This role involves a variety of tasks related to the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year and up to 2 years in a related field.
Work Environment
  • Involves installation and maintenance work at various locations.
  • Relocation costs are not covered by the employer.
  • Willingness to relocate is required.
  • Work may be conducted in residential settings.
Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and identify faults in telecommunications equipment, making necessary adjustments, replacements, or repairs.
  • Inspect and ensure the proper operation of telecommunications devices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain telephone systems, wiring, and related hardware.
  • Repair or replace defective telecommunications equipment.
  • Conduct tests on installed telephone systems to identify transmission issues.
  • Analyze test outcomes and modify or repair switching systems, networks, and associated software.
  • Complete and maintain detailed service and test reports.
  • Identify the nature and location of technical issues.
  • Install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems in telecommunications facilities.
  • Utilize computerized testing systems to perform service evaluations on customer lines and equipment.
  • Climb and work at heights on poles, ladders, or other structures.
  • Manage cable outlet connections, disconnections, and relocations.
  • Determine work assignments and priorities.
  • Install cable modems and software to facilitate Internet connectivity.
  • Repair or replace faulty cables, power supplies, and amplifiers.
