Position Overview
The role of the Admitting and Administrative Clerk at a Psychiatry Clinic involves crucial responsibilities in managing patient interactions and administrative tasks. This position is integral to ensuring a smooth operational flow within the clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, including urgent assessments and interdisciplinary consultations, while adapting to the needs of patients and the clinic.
- Welcome and register patients upon their arrival, ensuring a warm and professional atmosphere.
- Verify and maintain accurate patient demographic information, addressing any discrepancies with relevant parties.
- Notify healthcare professionals of patient arrivals promptly.
- Handle referral processes, which include gathering necessary information, performing data entry, and managing patient documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive records through data entry, information collation, and log management.
- Engage with team members for follow-up actions as required.
- Prepare and distribute various documents, including correspondence, reports, and meeting notes, utilizing advanced word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Perform receptionist duties, such as answering phone calls, responding to inquiries, and assisting patients and families with their needs.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient typing skills (minimum 45 words per minute).
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with others.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Commitment to understanding and adhering to legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and health care.
- Dedication to fostering reconciliation and addressing the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous Peoples.
