The Role
As the Hospital Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role within the veterinary leadership team. Collaborating closely with the Managing Veterinarian, your focus will be on ensuring a seamless and profitable operation by enhancing revenue streams and managing expenditures, all while fostering a positive workplace culture centered on exceptional patient care and outstanding customer service. You will serve as the link between daily hospital functions and NVA Canada’s overarching objectives. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will oversee the hospital's daily activities, ensuring exemplary people management, efficient operations, strategic planning, financial oversight, and superior client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead team performance by establishing clear objectives and nurturing a high-performing environment to guarantee exceptional patient care.
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members, ensuring they possess the skills necessary for outstanding service delivery.
- Quickly address client concerns and oversee follow-up communications and procedures, including reminders and callbacks.
- Collaborate with the Managing Veterinarian to identify staffing requirements, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and management.
- Take charge of hospital operations, including the creation and maintenance of policies related to controlled substances and health and safety compliance, troubleshooting computer system issues, educating staff on policies, and managing vendor relationships.
- Facilitate employee onboarding, training, and annual performance assessments.
- Ensure all veterinarians maintain current licensures.
- Manage conflicts promptly while promoting a positive employee experience and team culture.
- Oversee payroll processing for all hospital personnel, including production payments for veterinarians.
- Manage hospital inventory and control operational and administrative costs, consistently driving revenue while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Enhance client engagement through strategic communication and local marketing initiatives.
- Utilize the NVA Incentive Bonus Plan to achieve hospital objectives.
- Supervise all hospital staff, including grooming and boarding personnel as applicable.
- Perform additional duties essential to the hospital's operational success as assigned.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing daily operations.
- Adept at navigating uncertainty and making informed decisions, willing to take calculated risks while remaining resilient.
- Comprehensive understanding of operational strategy, aligning team objectives with organizational goals, and confidently leading teams through transitions.
- Collaborative nature with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- A passion for animal care and a commitment to serving their owners.
- Experience in veterinary, dental, healthcare, or hospitality management.
- Proven ability to build teams and sustain a high-performance culture.
- Experience with payroll, budgeting, and setting annual goals.
- Familiarity with MS Suite, Ceridian Dayforce, and PIMS software is advantageous.
